Letting Go to Hold On
I don’t need to be liked by others because I love myself. I don’t need anyone’s approval because I approve of myself. I am enough. I will always be enough, for I am always in the presence of God, and nothing can change that. You too, my friend, are always in the presence of God. God is in every atom of your being. How would your life change if you believed that everything you did was in the presence of God, of Love, of the Holy? I’m starting to see the changes in my life, and I couldn’t be happier.

Evolving Person
As a human, I am growing and ever-changing. I am not the same as I was yesterday, nor the same the day before last, and I won’t be the same tomorrow. I evolve each day, and I hope to never stop changing. However, with all of these changes, I am always dealing with new challenges and while also learning about my new strengths.

(Future) Pastor Michael
When asked why I want to be a pastor, I have a few responses, but I normally try to gauge how long of an answer the person asking is wanting before I answer.

Post UMC General Conference
This week has been rough. I couldn’t round up enough courage to watch the General Conference live stream last week, but I was able to keep up through the #GC2019 hashtag on Twitter. I was moved by the people there all sharing a positive outlook on the impending doom. There were live updates of the proceedings, videos of protests and chants, and even satire accounts making light of the situation.

The Politics of Jesus
Before we dive in here, I just want to say that this isn’t a place where I’m going to argue that Jesus was super liberal or conservative. I’m not going to say either that Jesus was apolitical, because Jesus was a political figurehead. So, let’s dive in.

Love is the answer.
It is midnight, and I just finished reading a book titled, It Looks Like This, by Rafi Mittlefehldt. This book is written in the perspective of a high school freshman named Mike. He just moved into a new town with his parents, sister, and dog. At his new school, he meets a dude named Sean. Long and beautiful story short, they fall in love.

The Pope Said That… So What?
This week has been very eventful, but it’s only Tuesday. Yesterday, Pope Francis affirmed LGBTQ+ identities reportedly saying that God made no mistakes when humans were made. LGBTQ+ are made in God’s image. It’s something I’ve believed since I became Christian, and I think most people believe that. But, to hear a large figure head […]

Joyfully Surrendered
A couple of Sundays back, I had the wonderful opportunity to preach the message at the church I attend. If you would like to watch, click here. We are doing a six week series about joy, and I shared about how I find joy in my identity as Christ’s child and how we all should. […]

Churches Should Affirm Not Welcome
I recently shared an article on my facebook timeline titled, “ The Difference Between a Welcoming Church and an Affirming One Is Huge.” Click here to read it. A friend commented and brought up a good point: the author didn’t really talk about the difference between the two types of churches but just rather their […]

Lessons from Bob Goff
If you know anything about me, you might know that I love Bob Goff! I even got a picture with him this past September. My love for Bob Goff stems from what Meggie, my old youth director / current best friend, got me as a graduation gift. His book, Love Does, started to change my […]
